Topics and geographical limits of the bibliography.

The Regional Bibliography page lists papers and books relating to over two countries as a minimum. Otherwise the titles are copied into the two national bibliographies pages.

The country bibliographies must be considered as exhaustive as to the update specified at the top of each page. Palaeo-environment references will be listed later, on separate pages. On the other hand the bibliographies on the ethnoarchaeology of ceramics and metal production, though considered as significative to archaeology, are not included here.
These topics will maybe be developped later under separate chapters.

Project's history, methodology :
In the general context of a regional program, R.Lanfranchi and myself have developped between 1988 and 1990 the first version of this bibliography on the archaeology of Central Africa. We started off with the documents we had at our disposal in Gabon, then we traced the documents in european libraries, the most important one the Tervuren Museum for Central Africa in Belgium, and also in Paris at the Institut de Paléontologie Humaine (IPH). A maximum of documents were actually read to check on its reference and also on its attached bibliography. This bibliography we used to further compile the regional bibliography and seek new documents. This was of major importance for the old colonies papers and books.
